- תְּיוֹמֶתf. (preced.) 1) (twins, the central leaf of the palm branch, which is a junction of two. Succ.32a נחלקה הת׳ (Ms. M. 2 התַּיֶּימֶת) if the central leaf is split; B. Kam.96a; a. e. 2) twin-sister, match. Pesik. R. s. 15 (ref. to תמתי, Cant. 5:2) תְּיוֹמָתִי לא אני גדולוכ׳ my match, I am not greater than she, nor is she greater than I; (Cant. R. to l. c. תאומתי כביכול).Trnsf. a broken thread joined by twisting, thick thread.
